Guernsey Post is one of the largest employers in Guernsey, responsible for the delivery and distribution of more than 49 million items per annum. With an annual turnover of £41m the Company operates in a challenging industry requiring a strong focus on managing its cost base and maximising commercial opportunities.


Following the retirement of one of the Non-Executive Directors, an exciting opportunity exists for Guernsey applicants with relevant experience to join the Guernsey Post Board.

Skills needed

The ideal candidate will have board-level experience, strong analytical skills and the desire to support the company’s strategy to strengthen core business. Given the current skills set of the Board the successful candidate will have an accounting qualification/finance director experience and/or director level experience in a trading company. To support the company’s succession plan, previous experience as a chairperson would be desirable.

Time commitment

Approximately 13 days a year (excluding the induction phase) to attend board meetings and carry out associated work.


£11,709 per year.

Miriam Makeba - South Africa

Zenzile Miriam Makeba (1932 to 2008), nicknamed Mama Africa, was a South African singer, songwriter, actress, United Nations goodwill ambassador, and civil rights activist. Associated with musical genres including Afropop, jazz, and world music, she was an advocate against apartheid and white-minority government in South Africa. In 2020 she was named one of Time magazine’s 100 women of the century.

Jacinda Ardern - New Zealand

Jacinda Ardern (born 1980) has served as prime minister of New Zealand and leader of the Labour Party since 2017. In 2019, she led the country through the aftermath of the Christchurch mosque shootings, rapidly introducing strict gun laws in response, and throughout 2020 she directed the country’s widely praised response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ardern was the world’s second elected head of government to give birth in office when her daughter was born in 2018. ‘An inspiring Prime Minister who brought a nation together with true leadership, empathy and compassion.’
