There are broadly two kinds of issues that individual constituents might raise with you. One category is ‘political’ in the general sense – policies they want you to change, services they want you to introduce or protect from cuts, etc. The other category is ‘personal’ – issues that are affecting them directly, and which they think you can help to solve. This covers all sorts – concerns about planning decisions; people who have been passed from pillar to post between different public services without getting the help they need; complex legal situations. Some of these you’ll be able to help with – for others, you may need to put the person in contact with someone more experienced or qualified.
