There are no rules on who can or cannot approach you for help, and you’ll be surprised at the diversity of people who do. Before island-wide voting, there was a sense that Deputies had a particular duty to help people in their parish(es), but it was fuzzy even then – people would often contact Deputies from across the Island – and I imagine it’s even fuzzier now. You might find that people contact you because they’ve formed the impression that you are politically or personally sympathetic, or because you’re on a Committee that deals with the services or policies that are affecting them directly.
