Marie Randall was Guernsey’s first female Deputy. She was elected in 1924 and retired 31 years later. It was wonderful to see her celebrated as a ‘Great Islander’ in the Guernsey Press on 4 February.
Jersey had to wait 24 more years for their first female Deputy, Ivy Forster. She was elected in 1948.
