Advocate Gemma Campbell was recently elected by her fellow Advocates as a member of the Guernsey Bar Council.
Gemma is currently the only woman on the Council but hopes to inspire other female Advocates to join in the future, reflecting the fact that the Guernsey Bar is now almost 40% female.
She was encouraged to stand by Elaine Gray, Partner at Carey Olsen. Gemma is looking forward to bringing a different perspective to the Council and is keen to motivate the next generation of Advocates to get more involved.
The Bar Council will be sponsoring a Women in Law event in May to celebrate past and present women of the Guernsey Bar, hosted by previous Bâtonnier Sarah Brehaut, Partner at Walkers.
