Non-States Members for Education

**For information only: Applications closed**.

The Committee for Education, Sports and Culture is seeking up to two Non-States Members.

Non-States Members are members of the public who take part in the work of a States committee but have not been elected as a Deputy. Their role is similar to a non-executive director on a company board, bringing expertise and an external perspective.

The type of person the Committee is looking for is outlined by the President, Deputy Paul Montague, as follows:

“The Committee is keen to ensure a diverse range of views are represented in its membership and welcomes applications from people of all ages and backgrounds. We are interested to hear from people whose skills and attributes can support the work of the Committee, and particularly those with a broad range of experience, which might include corporate governance, and working at director/board level in the private sector. Candidates should be able to offer independent rigour and challenge that will enhance our decision making.”

The time commitment includes half-day, fortnightly committee meetings, any extra committee meetings, reading and preparing for meetings and other activities, such as attending States Members presentations.
