The Committee for Employment and Social Security is seeking up to two Non-Voting Members.
Non-States Members are members of the public who take part in the work of a States committee but have not been elected as a Deputy. Their role is similar to a non-executive director on a company board, bringing expertise and an external perspective.
ESS President, Tina Bury, says the committee welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.
“There are no specific qualifications required. Experience may come from your professional life, voluntary roles, lived experience or community involvement. If you care about social justice and feel you have something to contribute to your community, we encourage you to apply.
“We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience in human resources, employment relations or employment law, but this is by no means essential.”
The time commitment varies, but generally includes attending half-day committee meetings every fortnight, preparing for those meetings and joining occasional additional activities such as presentations or briefings.
The anticipated term of office would begin in June 2026 and run until April 2029. Remuneration is £2,653 per annum.
